Diary of a Kindergarten Intern
The story that you are
about to read is based on true events that occurred while I worked as an intern
in a kindergarten classroom in Northbrook, Illinois, in the fall of 2006. While
homeschooled, I was invited to join the child development program at my local
high school. After completing an introductory child development class, I then
qualified to join my high schools child development internship program, where
I worked as a volunteer in a kindergarten classroom at my former elementary
school, with my former kindergarten teacher.
Although this is a true
story, it has been fictionalized for privacy reasons. All of the names and
locations have been changed to protect the identities of every person and place
involved in the story. This includes the name of every student, parent, and
teacher, as well as myself. In addition, the names of such schools, daycares,
and churches are fictitious and any similarity to any real-life school, daycare,
or church is coincidental.
